life goal: run

I've decided that I am going to train for a 1/2 marathon. I haven't picked the race yet, and I am still debating if I will get one of those trendy 13.1 stickers, but I think I am finally mentally prepared for this challenge. Let's do it.

our little family: road trip to arkansas

We took advantage of the long weekend and drove our little family to visit my brother's little family in Little Rock. We had a great time and Ella was able to bond with her cousin, Henry.

My brother and sister-in-law lead a very sustainable life. They have a garden (that they actually harvest) they drink out of recycled mason jars, they compost, they don't use paper towels, they use a push mower, they had a non-profit remodel an old house in the middle of town, they walk to the farmer's market, they use cloth diapers, they support their local brew-pub...and more. The entire drive home we chatted about the possibilities that lie ahead of us when we move into our home, and I hope we can even commit to one! Do you live a sustainable life?

pair it up: west elm

We have had our entire life in storage for the last 4 years, and I don't remember most of what we have. I know one thing's for sure- we don't have furniture.

We get to move into our new home and bring new furniture with us! This might stress some people out, but not me. I have been waiting for this moment. We will most likely take it slow, but I sure know we will need a place to sit.

Here is a pairing I have been dreaming about lately.

house after house

I feel as if everyone paints this amazing picture of house hunting, but our journey to home ownership has been like one heartache after another. Am I love struck 16 year old again?

House One: We were inches away from closing and we made the hard decision to walk away after the inspection period.

House Two: We thought long and hard about, but we were looking at horrible schools in a not so hot part of a great neighborhood. We want to live there, but we aren't desperate! p.s. it's still on the market!

House Three:  - we were plain out bid!

And most recently? We found a house pre-market that was being flipped. It seemed like the perfect end to a horrible ride, but alas, it was too good to be true. The flipper took back his word to do some additional updates and sell it to us off the market, and decided to go with his original [simple] remodel plan and list the house as originally planned.

So, back to square one. Again.

not really the begining

Welcome to the running list of a life among millions. You may have stopped by to check out some great lifestyle ideas? Or maybe to read some not-so-hilarious summaries of my life? I've done more than most, but I am just beginning to do what most do. Follow along as I sum up what it's like to buy your first home, raise a family and come to grips with the reality being [30] an adult!
